In november 1941 my grandfather was wounded - probably carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a defect oven in a soldiers' quarter. He was granted 4 weaks leave in Ospedaletti (Italia). Here he can be seen sitting on the terrasse of the Hotel Miramare. On the journey back to Russia he visited his family in Cologne, got a new uniform and some oranges.
