The construction of the shining white basilica Sacré Coeur on the hill Montmartre began 1876, but it turned out more complicated than planned, and the church was consecrated not before 1919.
Although the interior of the basilica is not very impressing, the way up onto the hill over the stairs is worth-while, because one has a nice panaroma of Paris. Conversely the basilica on its hill can be seen from many points in Paris.
