Hôtel de Ville

Until 1977 Paris only had a mayor several times for a short period. Instead it was governed by politicians of the state. Nevertheless the city hall is old: In 1533 the today's building replaced a medieval city hall. In the beginning of the 19th. century it was extended. 1873 is had to be restaurated completely because of a fire. The somewhat overladen façade dates back to this time.
