La Grande Arche

The triumphal arch "La Grande Arche" with its hight of 110m dominates the "Défense". It is all covered with white Carrera marble. It was opened 1989 on occasion of the 200 year festivities of the French Revolution. The danish architect Johan Otto von Spreckelsen designed it.

In the arch the elevators can be seen, with which one can go onto the top. On the top varying expositions are shown. The "little" roof in the lower middle of the arch can be seen a bit closer on the next picture.
