Namascarð is a small area with holes of bubbling mud. Hot hydrogen sulfide escapes from the vulcanic underground, dissolves in water and forms 100°C hot sulfuric acid. The acid on the other hand dissolves parts of the surrounding rocks, producing the grey mud.
