Dodder

This is a certain species of dodder (Cuscuta lupuliformis, (poplar dodder?)), a plant without its own chlorophylle, even without own leaves. It climbs on other plants and sponges on them.

I took the picture on the bank of the river Rhine at Bonn-Beuel, where two dodder species can be found.
