A near relative of the already shown genus Polytrichum is the genus Pogonatum. In both genera the still developing capsules are covered totally by a hairy tissue (the calyptra). The Pogonatum species are very manifold: There some, which only form some kind of green felt on the ground (the protonema), and others, which reach lengths of 40cm. The picture shows probably Pogonatum aloides.
